This rare deck boat model from Cobalt has had a total facelift with Nordic Yacht Works. The idea was to update the late 90’s earth tone style to a modern, more “go fast” look. The interior was the main area that needed to be worked on. The exterior of the boat remains the original and still popular black and white. All the black parts got very mildly wet sanded to bring up the original, deep shiny color. The whole boat got buffed and polished to an “as new” shine. |

The new interior is based on the modern carbon fiber vinyl which is a tasteful combination of carbon fiber black and carbon fiber silver. Bright white is also widely used around the boat to avoid making the interior too bold. The original beige gauge and switch panels obviously didn’t match the new look anymore so we had the panels remanufactured and surface coated with white carbon fiber imitation and new labels for the new switches were silk screened. New gauges were installed along with some additional safety features like an in dash gasoline fume detector / alarm with an automatic bilge blower activator. |

The original stereo system was taken out and completely upgraded with a custom system which relocated the sensitive receiver unit inside the small head compartment. A new water proof remote for the stereo was wired and installed on the dash and a second remote was mounted on the swim platform. To improve the sound quality we installed a quality marine amplifier and all new marine speakers to match the amp output. To boost the bass we installed an amplified 10 inch marine bass tube inside the head compartment. This relatively simple upgrade made a huge improvement over the original system. |
Mechanically the boat was in good condition so regular service work was the only thing needed. The original 7.4 EFI Mercruiser gives the boat a top speed in the upper 50 mph range, but the engine was not reaching the max rpm’s at WOT. To help the engine breathe a little bit better we installed a pair of Corsa Performance Captain’s Call diverters with a custom 4 inch through hull exhaust exiting through the sides. A fixed 110 v battery charging system was also installed in the engine compartment. To help protect the engine against salt water we also installed a Neutra Salt flush kit for the engine. |

We also fitted the boat with a brand new snap on cover and a bimini top with custom graphic design. Zippered pockets on the bimini top enable easy removal in case of heavy weather and there is no need to remove any of the mounting hardware from the boat. |
